Paper Ephemera
THE BRUSHIANS, Maine Artists 1860's.
Description: Offered is this 26 page soft-cover book which covers
the beginnings of this fascinating group of men who became known
as "THE BRUSHIANS". The group, started by George F. Morse of Delano
Park Cape Elizabeth around 1860 included many of the business-men of
that era. They gave each other interesting nicknames relating to their
vocations. The group would often take the train up into the White Mountains
of New Hampshire to paint. Some of the artists who later became well-
respected in their own right were: George M. Hathaway, Walter and
Edward Griffin, Charles Fuller, Frederick J. Illsley, C.F.Kimball, Thomas F.
O'Neil, and of course the man credited with founding the group: GEORGE
F. MORSE. Illustrations are included in this book. I wrote this book and hope
you find it useful and informative.
